SPACKLER CUP HALL OF FAME
Tim Drinan - Inducted 2014
Tim Drinan was another of the “Original 11” and was the first inductee into the Spackler Cup Hall of Fame, reaching his 25th win in 2014. Coming into 2023, he has the most wins in Spackler history with 37 and is a 12-time winner of the Spackler Cup. He is one of two players to win the MVP twice (along with his brother Pat), earning that distinction with Pat in 1999 and again solo in 2003.
Chris Winter - Inducted 2015
Chris Winter began playing in the Spackler Cup in 2003 at Whispering Springs. For the next 17 years, Winter was a wrecking ball for the Blue Team, compiling a Spackler-best 34-7-4 overall record, which to date is the best all-time winning percentage in Spackler Cup history. A 10-time winner of the Spackler Cup, he won the Cup as captain in 2010 at Big Fish G.C. in Hayward in a 1-point win for the Blue Team. He captured the Al Czervik Memorial MVP plaid jacket with a 3-0-0 mark in 2006 at Hawks Landing G.C.
Robb Zeman - Inducted 2015
Robb Zeman was one of the “Original 11” who played in the first Spackler Cup back in 1999 at Hon-E-Kor G.C. in Kewaskum. He has been a huge part of Red Team success over the years, including being on the first Red Team to win the Cup at Lawsonia G.C. in 2001. He has been a part of eight winning sides in the competition, and was part of the only team to retain the Cup (2002 Red). He captained the now-defunct White Team to victory in one of two years the competition had a four-team format in 2016, and won the coveted MVP plaid jacket in 2012 in a one-point victory for the Red Team at Lake Arrowhead.
Chuck Gresenz - Inducted 2015
Chuck Gresenz also was an original player in 1999, and between that year and 2019 he accumulated 32 wins as a player and a .585 winning percentage. Winning the Spackler Cup 11 times as a player, he was also the first player to serve as a winning captain for the Blue Team outside of Jim Wilson when he captained the Blue to a 13.5-10.5 win at Whispering Springs in 2003. He won the Al Czervik Memorial MVP in a Blue Team win at Meadowbrook in 2018.
Jim Wilson - Inducted 2015
Jim Wilson’s contributions to the Spackler Cup for his beloved Blue side can’t be overstated. He’s won the Spackler Cup a record 15 times as a player, and because the captaincy has stayed consistent for many years, has won seven times in the role of captain for the Blue including the first two years of the competition. He’s second all-time in wins as of 2024 with 36, and he’s been MVP twice – surprisingly once for each team (2000 for Blue and 2014 for Red in his only year ever playing for that team).
Pat Drinan - Inducted 2015
Pat Drinan, another of the “Original 11,” started his Spackler career by not only winning the Cup as part of a victorious Blue Team in 1999, but also taking home Czervik MVP honors alongside brother Tim. It was the first of two MVPs for Pat Drinan, who also won co-honors with Brian Timmler in 2004 at Washington County G.C., making Drinan the only player to both win two MVPs and share the honor both years he won. He is sixth in overall wins in Spackler history coming into 2023, and he has been a part of 13 winning sides – all but one as part of the Blue Team (won as part of Red in four-team competition in 2015), captaining the 2006 Blue Team to a win at Hawks Landing in 2006.
Matt Drinan - Inducted 2016
Matt Drinan was a shining star for the Red Team in its early years, playing the role of No. 1 or 2 during most of the competitions he played. That makes his climb to 25 wins and the Hall of Fame all the more impressive. An original player in 1999, Drinan was the first Red Team player to earn the MVP award in the Red win at Lawsonia in 2001. He’s won three Spackler Cup titles as a player, the last coming in 2012 at Lake Arrowhead, and helped the Red retain the Cup in 2002.
Ryan Wilson - Inducted 2016 (Special Contributor) and 2021 (Player)
Ryan Wilson is the first person to be inducted twice into the Hall of Fame – first in 2016 for his role as “Special Contributor” as the founder of the event, and second in 2021 as he reached his 25th victory in 2020. The first winning captain for the Red Team in 2001 at Lawsonia, Wilson has been a Cup winner seven times, captaining the Red Team to three of those victories. He is also the only player to win the MVP in a losing cause, going 3-0-0 in 2020 at Stevens Point C.C.
John Huff - Inducted 2021
John Huff joined the Red Team in 2004 at Washington County and never looked back, compiling a .563 winning percentage with his 25 wins on record as of 2024. Often placed near the top of the lineup for the Red Team, Huff took home MVP honors in 2009 at Old Hickory. He is a four-time winner of the Spackler Cup.
Joe Laur - Inducted 2022
Joe Laur has been a Spackler player for 20 years, and during that time he’s compiled a career that has helped his Blue Teams win seven Cups. But Laur is also the only player to win the Cup with three different teams. Other than the seven with Blue (winning MVP honors in 2007), he’s also been part of winning teams with the Red Team in 2015 at Lawsonia (when the Cup had a four-team competition), and in 2017 joined with Corey Mir to win the only two-man team competition at Lac La Belle during which he won his second MVP.
Jim Golen - Inducted 2022
Jim Golen, who has been with the Spackler since the inaugural season of 1999 as an “Original 11” member, joined the Hall of Fame in 2022 after capturing his 25th win in 2021. He was the second captain for the Red in the Cup’s fourth year, as his team retained the Cup at Lawsonia in 2002 in the only tied match in the event’s history. Golen has been a Spackler Cup champion six times, and won the Czervik Memorial MVP and the plaid jacket in 2002 when he went 3-0-0 in that 8-8 tie at Lawsonia where he also captained.
Corey Mir - Inducted 2023 (Special Contributor) and 2024 (Player)
When Corey Mir arrived at the Spackler Cup in 2001, he became part of the first winning Red side in the event’s history. But his work off the course in improving the event made him worthy of a Special Contributor Hall of Fame presentation in 2023. From the time he began playing, Mir has made key contributions to the event’s success. He has introduced several players into the Spackler Cup. And in 2024, Mir reached the pinnacle as a player, recording his 25th victory in Sunday Singles and earning his spot in the Spackler Cup Hall of Fame as a player.
